“We Care About Trees”

Our Mission

The Treemendous York partnership, a voluntary not-for-profit group supported by City of York Council, was formed in 2011, bringing together organisations and individuals with an interest in tree and hedgerow planting to drive forward a programme of planting more than 50,000 trees in Greater York. We have planted over 68,000 trees and 8,800m of hedgerow trees to date, and counting.

We have close links with the Woodland Trust, The Conservation Volunteers, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, York Natural Environment Trust, Askham Bryan College, Brunswick Nurseries, both local universities, Rotary York, and many residents' and other community groups.

Treemendous was a finalist in the York Press Community Pride Awards for "Best Community Project" 2013 and our Whitby Woodland ‘Slow the Flow project’ was a finalist in the Forestry Commission ‘Woods for Water' awards at the Great Yorkshire Show in 2018.

Our work is now part of the Northern Forest initiative, planting trees from Liverpool to Hull, please do check out the York Community Woodland website for more information on this project

If you want to demonstrate your green credentials, reduce your carbon footprint, encourage biodiversity and make a real difference to our environment, you can help us with funding, finding land which might be suitable, helping to plant trees and care for them.
